These are archer rings that I have successfully purchased at auction or from a gallery. The descriptions are those included with the picture on the original site. My comments have been added after the description.

Because these rings have somewhat dubious attributions I have defined rings by type using the following definitions:

Ring types:

Main Style - This part of the definition compares the overall style of the ring.
1 This ring looks to be an ordinary ring to which has been added a thumb guard. It has a distinct band along the whole ring.
1a This type of ring still has a front part to the band but it has been blended to a certain degree with the thumb guard. It is not a type 3 as the angles significantly change between the front band and the thumb guard.
2 This ring still has a front portion to the main band but it is now very narrow, in the 2 to 3mm range.
3 This ring has a rear band added to a thumb guard. There is no front portion to the band.
3a This ring is like the type 3 except that there is a horizontal ridge on the thumb guard.

Thumb Guard Decoration - This covers the way the thumb guard looks.
B Border only
O Decorated with objects -both stylised and natural
P Decorated with patterns
S Decorated with a scene
U Undecorated.

Thumb Guard Height - This gives me a basis of comparison for rings of different sizes.
S Short because it is less than a third of the rings diameter.
M Medium because it is between one and two thirds of the rings diameter.
L long because it is more than two thirds of the rings diameter.

These definitions will, over time, change as I acquire more rings and more information. On each page I've include the type and dimensions of each ring. The measurements are in millimetres except for the slope which is the number of degrees from horizontal the outside of the thumb guard is.
